Marcus Machin

Marcus read Law at Cambridge University graduating with an MA Hons in 1982. He has extensive senior shipping and project finance banking experience in London and Switzerland while also being heavily involved in corporate restructuring and the provision of advisory services to GCC based corporate clients.

Based in Dubai for more than 20 years, initially as the Finance Director for a major regional participant in the oil services, ship-repair, fabrication and offshore vessel owning sectors, Marcus established arabCapital in 2000 and joint ventured with the Tufton Group, London to establish Tufton’s Middle East presence managing conventional and Shariah compliant funds invested in the marine sector on behalf of a number of GCC and international institutions.

Since 2000 Marcus has held Board positions in a variety of GCC regional and international businesses in which Arab Capital Holdings Limited has invested.

Katherine Bruce-Smith

Katherine read Economics and English at Cambridge University graduating in 1980. She was admitted to the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales in 1985 and became an Affiliate Member of the Tax Institute, Australia in 2010.

Katherine has over 20 years’ experience in audit, finance and taxation, most recently being responsible for tax optimisation and risk management and mergers and acquisitions primarily in the Asia Pacific region, her last appointment being with SAP.
